GREYCELLS INTERGENERATIONAL DIALOGUE 2024
SUMMARY OF THE 3RD STEERING COMMITTEE 14 DECEMBER, 2023
New partners and contacts:
GIMUN, Geneva International Model United Nations is now formally a Partner and is represented at the Steering Committee. The Forum suisse de politique internationale FSPI announced it will soon join as a partner and is represented at the Steering Committee.
Contacts were established by Greycells with Mr. Cheruiyot S Kiprono, Office of The Eminent Persons Hosted By Directorate of National Values, Executive Office of The President, Nairobi, Kenya : efforts will be made to facilitate contacts with the organisers of the UN Civil Society Conference on the Summit of the Future to be held in Nairobi, 9-10 May 2024, and the dissemination of the Dialogue’s survey in the African region.
Contacts were made by Greycells with Ambassador Dominique Roulin, Director of the Geneva Welcome Center (CAGI) to inform him about this Dialogue and to request his assistance in enlarging the participation of Geneva-based NGOs in this initiative. Amb. Roulin was very supportive.
Contacts were established by Greycells with Ms. Tatiana Molcean, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) to inform about the Dialogue. Ms Molcean expressed interest and availability to support this initiative.
The Junior Diplomats are in contact with Prof. Achim Wennmann at the Graduate Institute to set a meeting with him around 15 January.
Greycells will request a meeting in January with the Director of the UNDP-Geneva Office, Ms. Agi Veres, to update her on the preparations of this Dialogue and to request her suggestions.
Date and location of the Dialogue :
Thursday 25 April, 5 :30 to 8 :00 pm [pending final confirmation by the Club suisse de la presse] at the Château de Penthes.
Youth Contest :
The revised draft of the Rules of the Contest is attached (please check it, changes are in blue !), reflecting the amendments discussed at the Steering Committee, i.e. : 2 categories of submissions (multimedias and written texts), participation open to individuals or groups up to 5 people, inclusion of youth in the jury, and a provision on the property rights of the submissions. This draft should be finalised before the end of January. The Contest should be launched on the social medias of all Partners on February 1st, 2024, and the closing date will be March 25th. Greycells and ist partners are starting contacts with potential sponsors to finance the winners’ award(s) (around chf 1’000 if possible).
Questionnaire for the anonymous online survey :
The attached DRAFT 15 DEC is for all respondents, with specific questions for some categories of respondents. This draft reflects the comments received by email and discussed at the Steering Committee : please check, changes are indicated in blue ! This questionnaire should be finalised by the end of January, to be launched on social medias of all partners on February 1st, closing date 25 March.
Tina of the Caux Foundation suggested to monitor on a periodic basis the replies as they are received particularly from the point of view of the categories of respondents, and to intensify the dissemination accordingly, as needed.
The students’ associations will provide at least one specific question for the category Students and Young professionals.
The Club suisse de la presse will provide at least one specific question for the category journalists.
Our young Partners Sara (SDSA) and Maria Teresa (Gimun), together with Alejandro, will look into the managing of languages of the questionnaire to facilitate the analysis of the replies.
Next steps :
Starting January, the Steering Committee will address the structure and content of the programme oft he Dialogue, centered on the specificities of International Geneva. All are invited to think and provide suggestions by email or at our meetings …
